A.N. I've been watching Desperate Housewives lately, and it made me miss Star and David.
"I never know what you're thinking!" the woman yelled, slamming the stack of papers down onto the counter top. "You never talk! You never share!" She let out a frustrated growl and stared at the man before her. "Why did I even marry you in the first place...?"
Alastar looked down at her and then pulled his eyes away, looking at the floor without saying anything, which in turn infuriated the young woman.
"See! This is exactly what I'm talking about! Instead of saying anything you just look away and shut me out!" She shook her head, her blonde hair flowing around her face with the movement. "How anyone could put up with how...how cold you are I'll never know." She waited for an answer, but nothing came. "Sign the papers, Alastar. Our lawyers will be in touch." And with that she pushed past him and left, all the while he didn't say anything. Once the door had shut behind her, Alastar sat down at the table and opened up the folder she had left, dark brown eyes scanning over the words.
----
They were sat in his lounge on the sofa, the T.V. playing some random movie, but Alastar couldn't focus. The scene on the screen brought back too many memories and to keep himself from replaying what had happened over and over in his head he merely shifted on the seat to lean against the warm body beside him. Laying his cheek on the soft brown hair he closed his eyes and breathed in deep through his nose.
"Something bothering you?" rumbled the body beside him.
"Domestic disputes," was all he said.
"Did you and Harmony argue a lot then?"
"Sometimes." Nuzzling into the other's hair, Al tried to force what he was thinking to form words in his throat. It had torn him and Harmony apart. David was much more compassionate and spirited than Harmony ever was, and Alastar worried that David would feel the effects of Al's closed-off personality much more and much deeper. Loosing Harmony had hurt. Loosing David would crush him; even if the rest of the world would be unable to see it. "I'm I too cold, David?"
The man shifted, pulling apart and sitting up. He looked directly at Al and reached over, linking their hands together. "You can be a little distant about things at time, but that's just who you are, Star and I understand that. If I ever think you're being cold about something I just smile and remember that you are exactly the way you are meant to be."
"You're an emotional sap sometimes, David," Al replied with a chuckle, leaning over and kissing him. "And thank you, for being an emotional sap."
